Opening Reception: Friday, December 4, 5 – 8pm
HILO with Season Evans, Katie Ford, Rachel Hayes, Joanna Keane Lopez and Sarah Vosmus, is an exhibition of contemporary textile artists from across the country. Textiles have the power to draw us in: reminding us of the familiar and functional, reflecting community and surroundings. The artists play with these connotations through diverse and innovative methods of making. From weaving from hand-spun wool to constructing translucent vinyl banners and elegant bed-sized compositions, the artists draw from traditions in ways that are decidedly their own. Exhibition Dates: November 23 – January 30.

ARTScrawl 5-8pm
The gallery continues to display Frederick Pichon’s work, as well as featuring glass works by Vaclav Kuzelka of the Czech Republic. Pichon’s work strives to bring fleeting moments into the foreground, allowing him to omit everyday details while maintaining remarkable compositions. Pichon creates powerful negative space resulting in unexpected juxtapositions, yet keeps his viewers in a realm of realism. His paintings reflect his interests in design, architecture, science and history. While this is not the first time the gallery has displayed Pichon’s work, there is some new subject matter that we haven’t seen from him before. Independent glass maker, Kuzelka uses an interesting, difficult staining and cutting technique to get very appealing color combinations in his glass.
