Open House and Albuquerque Founder’s Day Celebration noon-5pm
In April Yucca Art Gallery will spotlight the special talents of Kate Palmo, encaustic painter, Steve Janecky, wood artist, and Leah Ready, jeweler. Ms. Palmo uses a variety of interesting materials to create texture and light effects in encaustic paintings, Mr. Janecky juxtaposes different woods to achieve exciting patterns in his boxes and cutting boards, and Ms. Ready is justifiably well known for her intricate beadwork jewelry. During the opening reception, Ms. Palmo will demonstrate her painting technique and Ms. Ready will discuss the use of design in her jewelry. Light refreshments will be available. Yucca Art Gallery is a cooperative of over 40 artists working in a wide range of media and styles.

This month, this unique and delightful gallery on the Old Town Plaza features the Southwest Native American paintings of Blackfeet artist Farrell Cockrum, new works by this renowned stylist and colorist have arrived! Also featured are cottonwood carvings from Navajo artist Matthew Yellowman; fine art prints; Baltic amber jewelry; alabaster sculptures from Michael Connor; landscape paintings from Robert Perea and Fred Cleveland; and the amazing high-fired pottery from Seattle artist Matthew Patton.
