Opening Reception 5-8pm
This month’s show is Exposed – Contemporary Gravure. This group showcases the extreme diversity of the gravure medium. The process requires a photographic or drawn image to be exposed by ultraviolet light to transfer the image to the plate. New Grounds printmakers will show works that represent being exposed in a literal sense. This show might inspire photographers, painters and even non-artists to try their hand at this versatile medium; drawn images which could be mistaken for lithographs, abstract multi-plate landscapes, poignant figurative images and dreamlike mixed-media pieces, all can be translated to the gravure process. Collectors will find new works by their favorite artists, Diane Alire, Jessica Weybright, Mary Sundstrom, Kathe Noe and Jorge Tristani, and work by new members such as Jessica Krichels, Ren Adams and Elaine Soto. Gravure demonstration: 6:30 to 7 pm during the reception.
