The Inpost Artspace presents Material Worth: Works by Kate Carr, Jane Lackey and Natalie Smith in conjunction with Women & Creativity. Material Worth examines the multifaceted approaches of artists Kate Carr (Santa Fe), Jane Lackey (Santa Fe) and Natalie Smith (Albuquerque) as they explore material fluency through the transformation and re-contextualization of everyday, utilitarian objects. Using media and techniques often associated with craft practice, these artists seek to engage the viewer through a variety of complex and unexpected processes while simultaneously, preserving and elevating the integrity of their materials.www.womenandcreativity.org. The opening reception will be followed by a film screening of The Girls in the Band, a film featuring the untold stories of female jazz and big band instrumentalists and their groundbreaking journeys from the late 30′s to the present day.

Lecture: Processing Process 1-3pm
Weyrich Gallery presents Clay and Ink: Processing Process: New Work by Willi Singleton. Willi Singleton, a Pennsylvania ceramicist states, “After nearly three decades as an independent potter, I have recently begun to experiment with woodblock printing, making images that explore my pot making processes. For the first time at the Weyrich Gallery, I am showing my woodblock prints, along with my pots…Please come and see for yourself.” The show closes March 28.

Yucca Art Gallery will celebrate the arrival of spring in Old Town with an Open House and Reception for featured artists Pat Baca, a watercolor painter, Steve Janecky, wood worker, and Barb Fajardo, jeweler. Yucca Gallery, an artist cooperative now celebrating its 50th year, features the work of these and 40 other artists in mediums ranging from oils to encaustic painting, ceramics to metal working.
